September 2026From September 15 to October 15, the celebration reaches every corner of the Hudson Valley in commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This period not only honors the independence anniversaries of several sister nations in Latin America, but also recognizes the invaluable historical, artistic, and social contributions that Hispanic, Indigenous, and Afro-Latino communities make every day to the fabric of this country. The Hudson Valley shines with an unparalleled cultural calendar: outdoor festivals, Afro-Caribbean concerts, folk dance performances, food fairs, and moving visual art exhibitions in galleries and civic centers.

Exhibition: Arrivals & Afterlives

What: Arts presents Still Becoming: Arrivals & Afterlives, a dynamic multidisciplinary program honoring the voices, memories, and resilience of the Hudson Valley migrant community. Exhibition: Echoes of the Ancestral, Elisa Pritzker

What: Solo exhibition by acclaimed Argentine-American artist Elisa Pritzker, a longtime contributor to La Voz magazine. Through paintings, sculptures, and installations, the exhibition explores a symbolic iconography in which the ancestral past and the present converge to evoke a shared human identity. Free.

What: In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and as part of the city’s commemorative series 250 Years of America’s Voices, the City of Kingston, through its Department of Arts and Cultural Affairs led by Kitt Potter, in partnership with Latin Outreach, Unity and Development (L.O.U.D.), headed by Director of Operations Alessandra González, presents the multidisciplinary exhibition Our Dreams, Our Legacy, featuring local Hispanic and Latino artists of all ages. Cultural Program: Hispanic Heritage Month at DCC

Live Music: Third Thursday at Olana: LA MANGA
When: Thursday, September 17, 6 to 7pm
Where: Olana State Historic Site, 5720 NY-9G, Hudson
What: As part of the monthly Third Thursday community series, Olana State Historic Site presents an outdoor concert featuring the acclaimed musical group LA MANGA. This New York-based collective of women percussionists and singers honors Afro-Colombian and Caribbean Basin roots through an energetic performance featuring traditional drums (alegre, llamador, and tambora), gaitas, maracas, and call-and-response singing. An evening to celebrate ancestral musical heritage and enjoy the sunset with panoramic views of the Hudson River. Bringing a blanket or lawn chairs is recommended. Free

Hispanic, Indigenous, and Afro-Descendant Heritage Month Celebration When: Friday, September 18, 4 to 6pm
Where: Trudy Resnick Farber Center, 50 Center St, Ellenville, NY 12428 What: An inclusive, multicultural gathering designed to honor the experiences and intersections of our Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and Latin American roots. There will be tradition bearers, community elders, local dancers and musicians performing traditional acoustic music, ceremonial folk dances, oral storytelling of ancestral histories, and a visual display of textiles and traditional clothing. Includes a community snack gathering designed as a space for connection and intergenerational dialogue to strengthen community ties in Ellenville. Free
Hispanic Heritage Celebration in Pawling
When: Saturday, September 19, 2 to 6pm
Where: Village of Pawling, NY
What: Organized by the Camino al Éxito team and volunteers, this civic and festive event brings together families and residents from across eastern Dutchess County. There will be live performances by local musicians, groups, and dancers performing Mexican and Central American folk dances, hands-on painting and guided craft workshops for children, and a varied selection of traditional dishes prepared by local Hispanic cooks and entrepreneurs. 6th Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival, L.O.U.D.
When: Saturday, October 3, 12 to 6pm
Where: In front of Kingston City Hall, 420 Broadway, Kingston, NY
What: Led by the cultural organization Latin Outreach, Unity and Development (L.O.U.D.), this annual festival fills the streets of Kingston with music, color, and community pride. The day honors our roots with continuous performances by musicians, live salsa, cumbia, and merengue orchestras, as well as groups and ensembles from traditional dance academies representing the folklore of various countries in the region. NY Empanada Festival
When: Saturday, October 10, 12 to 5pm
Where: People's Waterfront Park, Newburgh, NY
What: An authentic culinary gathering on the Hudson River waterfront bringing together leading chefs, pastry chefs, traditional cooks, and restaurants from across New York State. Attendees will be able to sample more than one hundred varieties of empanadas (fried, baked, sweet, and savory, with Colombian, Argentine, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Peruvian recipes, and more). Día de Muertos Festival
When: Sunday, October 25, starting at 1pm
Where: Capital District Regional Market, 381 Broadway, Menands, NY What: Organized by New York Folklore, this traditional gathering pays tribute to the Día de Muertos holiday and collective memory. There will be a community installation of a traditional ofrenda where attendees can honor their loved ones, live performances by mariachi groups, catrina folk dance performances by local dancers, and hands-on workshops led by artisans to make sugar skulls and paper marigold flowers. In addition, traditional bakers and cooks will offer authentic pan de muerto and popular cuisine, alongside an exhibition and sale of Mexican crafts created by artisans from the region.
