This is a continuation from HEB 101 that was taught in the
Fall semester. This semester we will continue to study verb constructions, grammatical
rules and idiomatic expressions in Hebrew. We will also explore written
texts, songs and videos that will tell you more about Jewish/Israeli culture
and tradition. But more importantly, you will be encouraged this semester to
express through your essays, group assignments and oral presentation your own
approach to Hebrew as a language of further study, research, career
opportunities or cultural exploration. I would like to encourage you to
imagine how you might wish to use Hebrew in the future – and to use this
Hebrew course as an opportunity for thinking about language and culture in
general. At this point you have already devoted a great deal of effort to
studying Hebrew – this is a good opportunity to think how you might want to
apply the knowledge that you acquire in this course later on. |

This is a continuation of HEB 201 from the Fall semester.
This semester, you will complete units 9 through 16 in Hebrew from Scratch part
2, and have a command of all three tenses in Hebrew in a variety of
construction, with the addition of certain cultural and literary texts. Given
time, we will read complete texts (books) in easy language adaptation. This
semester, more than the fundamentals of Hebrew grammar – which are certainly
a part of the course – you will be encouraged to define your own unique grasp
and approach of the language. The course will try to offer a variety of
activities: written and oral exercises, personal projects and presentations,
music, games and videos – so that you might all excel in different tasks and
acquire a variety of skills. |
