Required Summer Readings

Required Readings

The required reading assignment for the 2008 Workshop in Language and Thinking is:
  1. Charles Darwin's On Natural Selection (Penguin Books (2005), ISBN: 0-14-303630-0)
  2. Franz Kafka's story "The Metamorphosis," found in The Complete Stories (Shocken Books (1995), ISBN: 0805210555)

Students are expected to obtain these books and to read them in preparation for the August Workshop. The edition matters: rely on the ISBN to be sure you are getting the correct edition. The Darwin should be read in its entirety. For Kafka, the required text is "The Metamorphosis" only.

A letter will be sent to students shortly, and posted on this site, with more information about the course.
