How to Apply

Applying

  • Bard Application (including essay, secondary school report, transcript, academic recommendations)
  • Opportunity Program supplemental form
  • Financial aid documentation (FAFSA)
  • Campus visit and interview will be held upon invitation.

Step by Step Application Instructions
  1. Complete an Admissions Application for Bard College.
    Due by Jan 15th.  Applicants may also obtain an application by e-mailing the Admission Office at admission@bard.edu or submitting the Request for Information Form.
  2. File a Financial Aid PROFILE with the College Scholarship Service of the College Board and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the U.S. Department of Education by January 28. (All financial aid recipients must file a FAFSA each year.)

Transfer Students Only
(Transfers for HEOP must already be enrolled in an opportunity program, e.g., the Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge Program (SEEK), Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), HEOP, or College Discovery to the Admission Office):
  1. Submit a HEOP transfer application to the Admission Office (For HEOP Scholars).
  2. Send a financial aid transcript.
  3. Send an academic transcript. (This step must be completed before the interview and acceptance.)
  4. The Opportunity Programs office will contact you, if we would like to arrange an interview.
  5. During this on-campus interview you will be required to submit a writing sample.

For applicants who are admitted, the Opportunity Programs office will:
  1. Determine a financial aid "package" in cooperation with the Director of Financial Aid for the next academic year.
  2. Send out an award letter reflecting the school’s financial aid commitment and the student’s total cost, which includes room and board, tuition, fees, books, and personal expenses.
  3. Enroll the student in the summer program for two weeks in July. (Transfer students are also required to participate in this summer program.)
  4. Provide the student with academic counseling to assist in course selection for the fall semester.
  5. Provide the student with any tutoring, or necessary to ensure academic success.
