Confidentiality Policy
The Health Service staff utilizes professional, ethical, and mandated standards of confidentiality. Family members, faculty, coaches, employers, etc., will not be given any information unless the student gives permission to do so. Maintenance of records is in accordance with professional and legal guidelines. All personal information is kept in locked files in the Student Health Service, which are secured at the end of each workday.
Exceptions to the standard procedures of confidentiality occur when a student is assessed to be a danger to him/herself or others, when records are subpoenaed, or in reporting abuse (e.g., abuse or neglect of a minor) as required by law. In such cases, the student would be informed, if possible, and only the necessary information would be released
