Here is some information that may be helpful as you begin your stay at Bard. I have also enclosed several useful resources to help you get oriented to Bard and its vicinities:
Your Room Key
You will find your room key ina small envelope attached to a key receipt. Sign the receipt and give the white and yellow copies to me. The pink copy is for your records. At the end of the year, it will be your responsibility to return the key to Connie at the Physical Plant.
To Activate Your Phone
Each room has a separate number.
- Just plug the phone in (it might already be plugged),
- dial "0", 7465, or 7460.
- The party on the other end will read your number on their screen and give it to you.
Your phone is programmed to allow for only local and 800-number calls. For your convenience, pre-paid calling cards are available in the Bard College Book Store, located in the Bertelsmann Campus Center. These cards will enable you to make domestic and international long distance calls from your dorm room phone. You can also purchase calling cards through internet: http://stiphonecard.com/prepaid/phone-card/STINY05
To Get Your Meals
- You are on Bard meal plan. Until you get your Bard ID card, just give your name at the entrance to the Kline Commons dining hall.
- You can also get simple food at the Down the Road Café (Campus Center). Opening hours on Sat/Sun: 10am-2pm, 8pm-12pm.
We have a Bard Security Office(x7460) that is on call and open 24 hours. You can call the office if you need assistance, such as if you lock yourself out of your room or house, have an emergency, or just need some information.
If you have any problems with your house (light bulbs or windows etc.) please call the Physical Plant (x465) and tell them where you live, who you are, and what the problem is. They're very busy, especially at the beginning of the semester, but they'll take care of problems with the house as soon as they can.
