“Shut Up and Write!”: A Weekly Writing-Intensive Study Room
Ongoing: Wednesdays, 6-7:30pm; beginning February 6
Aspinwall 302
Hosted by Josh Kopin, Bard Learning Commons tutor coordinator
Each Wednesday, these meetings provide a quiet, productive space for you to work on your writing assignments or Senior Projects, bookended by a short prompts to get you started and to reflect on your successes. We offer a space to respond to informal-writing prompts designed overcome inertia, write with friends (silently, naturally), celebrate writing accomplished, and draft plans for where to go next. We offer a space to write, rather than a workshop. So although you will be prompted to freewrite at the beginning and end of each session, the balance of time will be dedicated to your own writing.

The Senior Project and Multi-Stage Revision
April 17, 5-6:30 pm
Olin 305
Led by Jim Keller, Director of the Bard Learning Commons
This is a radical revision workshop that focuses on whatever section of your project that you would like to work with further. In this session we’ll work to isolate and develop places where you need to say more, places in the draft where you seem to be getting at your idea, different places your section might “begin” and those places that don't yet seem to “fit.” We encourage you to bring the least developed section of your almost-completed project. Since many writers get to their ideas only at the end of their drafts, this workshop aims to make explicit and specific the ideas that you have so far left implied.
