Getting Started: Logging-in & Enrolling
 
Step #1
  1. Enter your username and password. That's the same information you use to access your Bard email or BIP account (A course's enrollment key is not your Moodle password).

  2. Click Login.

Step #2

Your Profile will open in a new page.

 

 

Enter your personal information:
  • a *preferred Email address,
  • your city/town and country,
  • and something about yourself in the Description area (putting student is fine - you can change this Description later).

 

 

*NOTE: Moodle especially likes Bard email addresses and has been known to reject some other "domain" addresses. Moodle does not, however, have any problem recognizing addresses @gmail, @mac, or @yahoo.

Step #3 - Important Settings
  1. Click on the Show Advanced button in the top-right corner of your screen to show some advanced options you'll want to control:

  2. Forum auto-subscribe: If you choose 'yes' here, every time anyone in one of your courses posts to any disucssion forum you've entered - you will be sent an email of their post (best to set this to "No").


    Forum tracking: If you choose 'yes', then any forum entries you have not yet read will be a different color ( "Yes" is a nice option for keeping track of what you have already viewed).

Step #4
  1. Click the Update profile button. You may need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find it.

Step #5

Once you are logged in, locate your courses.

 

  1. Available course sites appear in a list in the center of Moodle's mainpage.

     

    Courses are listed:

    • by semester
    • then by Division
    • then by course title

Locate and click on the title of your course. You may need to search through the Division sections to find it.

Step #6

To enroll in a course you'll need an Enrollment Key. Contact your Professor if you do not yet have the enrollment key for your course.

  1. Enter the enrollment key in the space provided and click the Enroll me in this course button.

     

    Moodle will 'register' you in that course and bring you to that course's mainpage.

 

 

 

 

NOTE: When you go back to Moodle's mainpage after completing this final step, you'll find a direct link to the course (or courses) you've added in your My Courses block in the top left area of your screen.
