Sign up Procedure

  1. To get started with your service please give one of BestWeb's customer support representatives a call toll free at 877-777-2932 and select option "1" for new customer signup.
  2. Please inform the representative that you are interested in signing up for new service and you are eligible for the special "Bard College Promotion" which is promotion type "P6" for billing.
  3. During the setup process when asked to input the IMAP server please advise the representative that you will be using the server set-up:
    1. Bard College IMAP server (mail.bard.edu) as the incoming server and
    2. BestWeb for the outgoing SMTP server.
    Please remember to inform the representative that your IMAP server username and password will be different than that of the chosen BestWeb username.

Terms & Conditions

This is a memorandum of understanding between BestWeb Corporation (BestWeb) and Bard College (Bard) dated May 16, 2003. Either party may cancel this arrangement at any time and for any reason.

  1. Bard currently provides dialup access to the internet  to their students, staff, and faculty (Bard Users) with their own equipment and at their own facilities.  Bard wishes to stop providing this access directly and instead make suitable other arrangements.
  2. BestWeb has agreed to provide dialup internet access to any Bard Users at the special rate of $14.95 per month.  This discount cannot be combined with other discount offers that BestWeb may provide to customers.
  3. Each Bard User will be responsible for their own payments to BestWeb and Bard will have no liability for nonpayment by a Bard User.  Bard will not object should BestWeb cease to provide service to any Bard User for non-payment.
  4. Bard agrees that Bard Users will follow BestWeb's Authorized Use Policy (AUP), as published on BestWeb's home page and as modified from time to time, and will not object if BestWeb ceases to provide service to any Bard User who violates the AUP.  Bard will have no liability for any such violations.
  5. Should a Bard User desire any other BestWeb service besides dialup access, such service will be provided at BestWeb's then current rates.
  6. From time to time BestWeb may provide Bard with a list of Bard Users which Bard will confirm are indeed qualified Bard Users.
  7. BestWeb will provide Bard Users with the same level of service and support as is provided to any other BestWeb customer. 
  8. Bard Users will access BestWeb's service through the currently existing dialup access locations.  If economically feasible, BestWeb will add new dialup access locations to meet the needs of Bard Users.
  9. Bard agrees to publish this arrangement to the Bard community through web pages, written material, and other reasonable means.  Bard agrees to encourage members of the Bard community to avail themselves of this arrangement in any reasonable way.
  10. This arrangement is available to both Bard Users who are not current BestWeb customers and any Bard Users who happen to already be BestWeb customers.
  11. BestWeb normally provides a free month to any existing user who refers a new customer.  No referral credits will be provided when the new customer is a Bard User.
