American Age:

The Clash of Globalization?

The visitor might wonder what this homepage is. This page was designed by Stephanie Kufner, Professor at the German Department of Bard College, and her student, Zoltan Feher from Hungary as the final project of their cross-disciplinary tutorial in Fall 2001. The tutorial was cross-disciplinary in nature since it dealt with topics and themes covered by Zoltan Feher's class American Age: U.S. Power and Purpose in the 21st Century taught by James Chace, Professor of Political Studies at Bard.

Our aim with this website was to give the readers a "window" on some of the most pressing topics of our age: world politics (with a focus on American-European/German relations), globalization, cultural rivalry, etc. Our project, however, got a very strong impulse by the events of September 11, and thus it took a slightly new direction, too. We have looked into the different interpretations of the attacks and of global terrorism, and attempted to make this theme an integral part of our discussion of globalization, world politics and the clash of cultures.
