Marsha R. Davis, RN, MS, FNP, Director
Marsha did her undergraduate work at Antioch College. She then got her MS degree in Family Primary Care at Pace University.
Marsha's work experience includes a summer stint for the Indian Health Service at the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana in the early 80's. She began her student health career at Rutgers University for three years, then worked four years in community health in NYC before making her way to Bard in 1988.
When not at the health service, Marsha enjoys her family, her dog Vinnie along with chickens, cats, and a goat on her farm, and many hobbies from tennis to travel to book group. Marsha bravely took up skiing in 2004 and is trying hard to keep up with her daughter Kate.
Barbara-Jean Briskey, FNP, Associate Director
Barbara Jean's undergraduate coursework extends from Pace University for a BS to SUNY Purchase and Vassar College as a CSP student in fine arts. She attended Pace for her MS degree, Family Primary Care.
Barbara Jean's work experience includes nine years at the Westchester Medical Center through the 80's and early 90's, then two years of community health while working towards her MS before beginning at Bard in 1994.
Outside of Bard, Barbara Jean is an artist, an avid gardener, a Scrabble addict, tandem stoker, mother of two, two pups, and a gorgeous kitty.
Barbara Elkins, RN, MS, ANP
Barbara graduated from Mount Saint Mary College with a BS in Nursing in 1991. She pursued her graduate studies at Sage Graduate School and completed a Master's in Nursing in 2000.
Barbara is the newest member of Bard Health Service, but she has had many years of experience. She worked for seven years as an RN before pursuing her master's degree. Upon finishing graduate school, Barbara worked in private practice. She also instructed undergraduate nursing students before joining Bard's health service team.
Barbara is a devoted "mom" to her three dogs. She spends many summer hours gardening and has been building muscles renovating her c.1920 colonial revival home in historic Kingston. She is active in a local community service group.
Lisa Pearlman, RN, MS, FNP, Peer Health Educator
Lisa's undergraduate work was in biology at Oberlin College. Lisa graduated from Yale University with a BSN and a MSN.
Lisa's medical work experience started at Taos Ski Valley as an EMT, and includes time working as a nurse practitioner in family practice and Planned Parenthood before coming to Bard in 2002. Lisa leads an inspiring group of Peer Health Educators in addition to her role as an FNP at the health service.
Lisa has been an avid adventurer, from biking across the USA to traveling through Central America. Her current passions include backpacking, yoga, and playing the hokey pokey with her preschool daughter and infant son.
Angela Cavanna, DO, College Physician
St. John's University BS degree. 1990 graduate of NY College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Cavanna completed a sport's medicine rotation at the Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Phoenix, Arizona, and was a consulting physician for The Phoenix Sun, Arizona Rattlers, and Seattle Mariners. She is a board member of the American Osteopathic Association of Sports Medicine.
Outside of Bard, Angela plays volleyball and softball. She is a devoted mom to her border collie pup Bella.
Peggy Mantey, RN, BS, Clinical Coordinator
Peggy has a BS in Business & Economics. She has an AAS in nursing and has worked as a registered nurse since 1975.
Peggy's work experience ranges from hospital nursing to pharmaceutical research to office-based allergy care to utilization review to college health. She runs Health Service's allergy clinic and has been treasured by students and staff here since 1995.
Peggy is a devoted mom to two twenty-something children and her baby Smokey (a miniature Schnauzer). She is an avid gardener; her shade garden is a beautiful summer sight. Peggy loves a good party and can be found many evenings at social, charitable, and business events in Ulster County.
Linda Christensen, Administrative Assistant
Maureen Jasura, Receptionist
Maureen has worked at the Health and Counseling Service since September 2003 and is the person you usually get on the phone or who greets you at the front desk. She is responsible for juggling the appointments, telephone calls and charts for up to 14 staff members and the many, many students they see each day.
Maureen grew up in Hyde Park and has two grown sons who live in North Carolina. Maureen, with her boundless energy, has been actively involved in Jazzercise for the past 20 years. You will always win Maureen over if you talk to her about her sons or her great fondness for Pugs!
