LIVING THINGS
"Living Things consists of Sam Sowyrda and Stephe Cooper (both from the Dan Deacon Ensemble & eagle ager) as well as Peter Hanson (Buckminster). With collective backgrounds in jazz, classical, avante-garde, free improv, punk, experimental composition, performance art, and electronics the trio creates live musical performances integrating a wide range of improvised and composed sound-based and action-based material. Using an unusual selection of instruments, toys, and found objects, Living Things explores the many possible combinations of the visual and auditory sides of musical "performance", creating work that is usually very playful, and at times absurdist (i.e. a contra-bass clarinet turned into a giant gurgling snake). Their current show utilizes everything from instrument beasts, transgender voice therapy, wind-up toy-orchestra with a tuba-headed conductor, and a feedback puppy, to compositions for motorized wind instruments, woodwinds, euphonium, percussion, feedback, guitar, and other sound-making devices."

Ben Lorber
Lorber is a dream child philosopher who writes beautifully unique folk songs that are pretty but not too pretty. Guitar playing reminiscent of Six Organs, Charalambides, Fahey, etc. But Ben is all is own thing, with awesome lyrics that actually communicate something to people, so check it out. 2nd full length tited "Etchings" out soon on Sailing Records.
