Bard's Network

Bard computing resources and facilities are available to all faculty, staff, and students on the Annandale campus. A large number of Windows and Macintosh computers are available in our computing labs and classrooms throughout the campus. These machines and related technology services are managed by the Bard Information Technology Services (BITS).

Bard's wired network provides 10/100MB connections with a Gigabit fiber backbone interconnecting our buildings. Full access to the internet and Internet2 are provided.

Although many students provide their own computer, it is not required. Students with their own computers can connect to the network via our wired or wireless network. Students are required to provide their own Ethernet cable to connect our wired network ports.

Wireless Networking

Wireless networking is available from many areas around the Bard campus including many of the residence halls. A map of our wireless locations can be linked to below.

Students wishing to use wireless networking need to ensure their computer supports 802.11b /g wireless networks. Use of non-Bard wireless access points not allowed. wireless map

Personal Computing Recommendations

If you would like to take advantage of networking services, you'll need to be aware that the Bard staff will not install networking hardware. If you will be using a computer in your room and would like to connect to the internet through Bard's network, Bard requires that you provide and install your own compatible wireless network devices.
