Guidelines and Policies

BERD’s solid waste program is designed to decrease the amount of solid waste we generate.

To reduce garbage before it is created we use source reduction – we encourage our community to bring less to campus and buy less while they are here.

We have a free store on campus to help students, faculty and staff re-use goods that have more life. We also collect items that can have more life but that require remote refurbishing, such as our toner program.  In MoveOut 2008 students fed Barry the Blue Bin instead of putting things in the garbage - we save over 100 bags to help stock FreeUse.

As a last resort, we recycle as the market allows.
