Lighting
Delamping, sensor installation and lighting upgrades are three ways to reduce energy use on campus. The Bard bookstore now stocks energy efficient desk lamps and compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL). The lifespan of a CFL can be over four years; we encourage students to buy them. Using compact fluorescent bulbs in all light fixtures saves 67% of the energy used by incandescent bulbs.
