The people in the village were starving. They had no food or water. There were no animals in the woods to hunt. But Tonto's Dad ordered the people to go into the woods to hunt. Tonto was outside playing with Dorris and Fast As A Fox, when Tonto spotted his Dad. But his dad still had no food for the tribe.
The next day, the hunters caught a rabbit,but that wasn't enough food to feed the whole village. Tonto was inside all day trying to figure out a plan. He couldn't stand to see his mom sitting there having no food at all. So at night he decided to do something about it. Tonto got his father's gun and went out. Fast as a Fox was following him. Then all of a sudden, someone shouted," Tonto!" He looked around; it was Dorris. "Get away Dorris," he shouted. Dorris wanted to go with him. Listen, Dorris if you stay here I will bring you back a big feast ok, Tonto said. Then Dorris went inside.
Tonto ran in the wood's. He couldn't believe what he saw. There were thousands of animals.
When Tonto got back in the morning there were bears, deer, and rabbits hanging off his shoulders. Everyone ran up to me. My mom gave me a big hug. "You are a hero!" she said.
In the afternoon they planned a big,big feast. Flowing-river was making food, Sees Behind Trees was lighting a fire, and Tonto and Dorris were getting wood for the fire. Flowing River was using a hammerstone. She broke the food. This was going to be the biggest feast ever. They served all the food. When everyone was at the table we thanked God and then someone yelled out" Horray for Tonto."
