The Enchanted Spear Point
By S.V.Z.W.

One day a little boy called Rushing Water went into the woods to find a gift for a ceremonial festival. As he walked through the forest he found plenty of stones and pieces of birch.

He was about to turn back when he saw a rather round stone. He liked that stone.

He thought about the rock, then he recognized that he could make perfect spearpoints out of it. He started to make the spearpoints They took about one hour each. He made three spearpoints, they were very nice.

When he came back to the town he went straight to the valley. The reason he went to the valley was because he wanted to keep his present a secret.

When it came time for the festival he tried to keep the presents a secret. He made sure that he was last to present his gift.

When his parents received the gift they were delighted. The first couple of times his parents used the arrowheads they worked, but his parents regretted that soon because the arrowheads stopped working! Rushing Water s parents wished that the arrowheads worked.

In the morning to their surprise the arrowheads were sharpened! Their first instinct was to go out and use them, but .... how? They sat on the ground thinking when Rushing Water’s father said "We will use them to cut the fish". They went to the stream and gathered fish. When they came back Rushing Water’s parents cut and then smoked the fish. When they cut the fish with the arrowheads they worked beautifully.

When it was time for breakfast everybody loved the fish!

Everybody (people from the village) asked how they made it so good. Rushing Water's parents wondered if the arrowheads had anything to do with this! After all they just said thank you.

For the rest of their lives Rushing Water's parents always were very thankful that their son gave them the arrowheads because they were useful and maybe even enchanted.
