Gardens at Bard

Within the College landscape, there are many distinct gardens that exist to serve utilitarian and aesthetic functions. They include: Urban Meadow, Woodland Garden, Chinese Garden, Native Garden, Elizabethan Knot Garden, Meditation Garden, Xeriscape Garden, Grass Garden, Shade Garden, Community Garden, and Blithewood Garden, a formal Italianate walled garden. Click here for a tour of the Gardens at Bard brochure.

Plant Collections at Bard

The formal plant collections at Bard have yet to be determined, since the Arboretum was just established in 2007, however, a formal collections policy is currently being developed. It is hard to ignore that the Bard campus is rich in historic oaks, pines and spruce trees, which will form the basis for Bard’s existing collections.
