Peer Tutoring
Most of the tutoring done in Academic Resources is done by peer tutors. Peer tutors are students (typically moderated, but not always) with strong academic and communication skills who have been recommended by members of the faculty and trained in the principles of peer tutoring. Tutors do not proofread papers or teach course material; rather, they help students develop the skills they need to write their own papers and understand the course material.
You can sign up to work with a tutor for a specific class, for a particular subject, or for general skill areas such as mathematics or writing.
Peer tutoring is conducted on both a drop-in basis (no appointment necessary) and by appointment. Appointments can be made for the entire semester, for a single session, or for some other designated period of time.
Students can make an appointment online to work with a tutor or simply come to the Academic Resources Center and fill out a tutor request form. Once your request is received you will be contacted within a few days by a tutor to arrange an appointment.
Drop-in hours for writing tutoring will begin around the third week of classes - check back for details.
