Day 1: Anodos, 'the way up.' This scene is reminiscent of the Anodos procession on the first day of the Thesmophoria. Although this scene derives from the pre-historic period, it depicts a scene quite similar to the action of the Anodos, where the women approach the cult area each carrying cult offerings and paraphernalia.
