The Burkert Ritual Model - Scene 1

A sacrifice presented an occasion for festivities in the community. In order to celebrate the sacrifice and separate it from everyday life, worshippers would would make sure to wash thoroughly and wear clean, or even new, clothing to signify the occasion as sacred. They also adorned themselves, most commonly with a garland woven from twigs.
