The studio art faculty offer "Studios" (workshops) in painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. These "Studios" replace the existing Intermediate, Advanced, and specifically titled courses in drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. In the painting and drawing Studios there may be two levels (corresponding to "Basic/Intermediate" and "Advanced"). Admission to all classes will be by portfolio, though students will be expected to have completed the foundation program. In order to achieve full circulation through this new structure, students will be strongly encouraged not to repeat with the same faculty.

Often the most interesting things in art are not the solutions but the questions. In that spirit, this course has two objectives: 1) development of each student's individual voice in painting; 2) active investigation of art problems in practice and theory. The course will include some assignments, group problems, critiques, readings and slide talks as well as pursuing individual work. Students should be prepared to engage in a questioning dialogue about art as well as doing their own work.
