This course will focus on the functional use of Arabic in a natural communication setting. The four basic linguistic skills will be dealt with simultaneously. Active and passive lexicon as well as advanced grammatical structures will be taught through exposure to a wide range of texts. Aspects of Arab culture and differences between Modern Standard Arabic and the spoken language will be highlighted. Conducted mainly in Modern Standard Arabic. On-line

The course focuses on developing a significant level of linguistic and communicative competence in the language.  The four linguistic skills will be dealt with simultaneously.  Modern literary and expository texts, as well as a selection of texts from Arab media will be read to expand active and passive lexicon and grammatical structures.  Differences between modern standard Arabic as well as aspects of Arab cultures will be highlighted.On-line

This course will continue to focus on the students' development of the four skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing Modern Standard Arabic. To increase the range and accuracy of oral and written expression and aural comprehension, the course will include more complex grammatical structures, and expansion of vocabulary through extended readings using audio and video materials. The Classes will be conducted entirely in Arabic (except for the grammatical explanations when needed).On-line

Readings in Arabic Literature using Modern Standard Arabic is a course designed for students who have studied Arabic language at least for 3 years, who want to expand their readings in Arabic Literature, and to enrich their skills in Arabic Culture understanding. In this course we will closely read the short stories of famous writers (Naguib Mahfouz and Youssif Idris), as well as short stories of contemporary writers published in daily newspaper AL-Ahram. The materials of reading will include Al-Kitaab Fii Ta’alum Al-Arabia Part 3 for grammar practice.On-line
