This course will focus on the functional use of Arabic in a natural communication setting. The four basic linguistic skills will be dealt with simultaneously. Active and passive lexicon as well as advanced grammatical structures will be taught through exposure to a wide range of texts. Aspects of Arab culture and differences between Modern Standard Arabic and the spoken language will be highlighted. Conducted mainly in Modern Standard Arabic.

This course is a continuation of Intermediate Arabic 201.The course focuses on developing a significant level of linguistic and communicative competence in the language.  The four linguistic skills will be dealt with simultaneously.  Modern literary and expository texts as well as a selection of texts from Arab media will be read to expand active and passive lexicon and grammatical structures.  Differences between Modern Standard Arabic and colloquial Arabic will be highlighted.

This course will continue to focus on the students' development of the four skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing Modern Standard Arabic. To increase the range and accuracy of oral and written expression and aural comprehension, the course will include more complex grammatical structures, and expansion of vocabulary through extended readings using audio and video materials. The Classes will be conducted entirely in Arabic (except for the grammatical explanations when needed). Not open to first-year students.
