2 credits This course will provide an introduction to
reading, writing, and speaking the Yiddish language. Students will also learn
about aspects of the East European Jewish culture in which Yiddish developed. Meeting
time may be changed depending on the schedules of interested students; consult
with instructor. Prerequisite: knowledge of the Hebrew alphabet. Students
without such background should contact the instructor for materials they can
study prior to the start of the fall semester.
